Provision of ATCO’s rest room, Extension of Area Control Center

It is submitted that the ATC Officers working at Hyderabad Airport are devoid of any proper rest room which is the minimum basic facility available at all the Airports.

The present Area Control Center is too small to even accommodate the proposed FDPS and other developmental activities inline with the growing Air Traffic. It is probably the only airport of India which has ACC working for 24 hours but does not have a rest room for the ATCOs’. In spite of all standard practices in vogue and standard requirements of ICAO/ILO human factor requirements, no concrete steps have been initiated so far either by the local administration or the Regional Headquarters.

Also, the present makeshift ladies rest room in II floor is too small with no proper ventilation.

In view of the above discrepancies the ATC Guild (India) requests you to consider the following proposals:

  1. In the proposed extension of the terminal building/security hold area, i.e. north of the present technical building.

  • The extension on the second floor may be considered as per sketch (I).

  • Subsequent to the present proposal of shifting the present AHCR to annex building third floor expansion, the present AHCR and extended portion may be converted to the ATCOs’ rest room and recreation center.

  1. The existing first floor plan be extended to the western side as shown in Sketch (II); providing space for ATS Reporting Office, ATS Training room and ATCOs’ rest room.

  2. Until any of the above proposal takes a concrete shape, a temporary shelter may be provided on the east of the AHCR, making a provision through AHCR for ATCOs’, sketch (III) along with telephone and toilets.

The three sketches are attached herewith for your kind consideration and immediate action.
