Discontentment regarding RCAP nominations

ATC Guild wishes to draw your kind attention to the fact that there are severe discontentment amongst ATCOs at various stations regarding the nomination for the ensuing radar course. The following points are submitted for your perusal and necessary corrective action for future.

  1. Some officers, who are under order of transfer and their deferment has not been acceded to, have been nominated setting a wrong precedence.

  2. Some stations have been neglected consecutively for the last 2/3 courses. Besides necessity of radar controllers for that station, this is also a career progression process for an ATCO.

  3. The requirement of radar controllers for simultaneous operation of runways at IGI airport has not been given priority in spite of the fact that some radar controllers are being called for extra duties due to shortage.

  4. CATC training facilities have not been used to its optimum level. Even though some Barco monitors in the simulator are unserviceable in the controller side, those available on the instructor side could have been used to induct more trainees. Further, it is understood that the replacement for the unserviceable monitors has reached IGI Airport and is likely to reach CATC at any time. Necessary co-ordination may be made with CATC to include five more trainees.

  5. In the past, instructors at CATC have been given opportunities to undergo the radar training before they leave CATC. This has been discontinued for quite some time. This policy should be continued as it is a big motivation for the ATCOs posted at CATC.

ATC Guild requests to make optimum use of training facilities at CATC as well as follow the policies in vogue so that resentment can be reduced to a great extent.

With regards,

D K Behera
General Secretary

Copy to the Member (Operations) with a request to co-ordinate with CATC and include five more trainees in the ensuing course.
